MASC Service Club
You've seen news reports about people who need assistance with food or rent. Maybe you've walked past people who are living on the streets. Or perhaps you've watched TV programs about how lonely and isolated older people can get.
So what can you do about any of those things, you ask? The answer: You can volunteer.
Volunteering has a meaningful, positive impact on our community. Monthly, the MASC Service Club offers volunteer service in our community. The Club regularly volunteers at Matthews HELP Center, a crisis assistance agency, helping out in the food pantry, caring for the building, assisting with events, etc.
Volunteering is ultimately about helping others and having an impact on people’s well-being. What better way is there to connect with your community and give a little back?
People pay attention to your life outside the environment in which they have direct contact with you. For example, academic institutions are interested in your extra-curricular activities. Volunteering reflects and supports a complete picture of you, and gives real examples of your commitment, dedication and interests. Show people what you are passionate about and maybe you will inspire them too!
